No need to understand…

I wrote the following blog several months ago but set it aside and did not publish it.    A few days after that,  I received an update from a dear friend who is battling cancer with all his might.   He referred to the John 13:7 passage that I use at the beginning of this blog.   For some reason,  I failed to ever publish my words...but today I will.  I dedicate this blog to Tom Hill.  He is walking through the hardest season of his life, with Jesus (and Tom's  girls) right by his side.   His words about his journey have…

Veils, Glory and Freedom

While being directed to a verse in 2 Corinthians 3 this morning, I ended up all over the chapter.    As He always does, God showed me something fresh and new about this chapter that I just had to share .  It involves Veils (both literal and figurative), the Glory of God's Covenants,  and the Freedom that we must never take for granted.            Within the span of five verses, Paul (the author of Corinthians) repeats a phrase four times.    When anyone  (think - your Mom telling you to…

Gazing or Glancing?

Hey friend,  are you Gazing or Glancing?    It matters you know.   It matters what you are gazing at or glancing at!     Especially in these uncertain, crazy times.     At what we  "Gaze"  and how much,  will shape who we will become.         First some definitions, and then a little GIFT for you at the bottom of this blog.            You're Welcome!   GAZE:   To look steadily and intently at something or someone,  especially in admiration, surprise or thought.                 …

Longing for Home…

When I awoke this morning, I realized that I had been dreaming about three of my Aunts who are no longer living.    In my dream they were preparing for a family reunion.  They were in their element...cooking waaaay too much food and fussing over where the desserts should be placed.    The dream took me back to sweet times... lots of food,  family and a sense of belonging and love.     Saying goodbye is hard stuff.     We buried the last two of my Daddy's remaining siblings within a  two-week period just over a year ago.    At times…

What breaks my heart…

All of us can relate to having someone hurt you with their words or actions. What is sometimes more difficult to deal with (in my opinion) is when someone hurts a person I deeply care about…my Mama Bear instincts come out! I want justice…or at the very least repentance and apologies galore! Unfortunately, the words “I am sorry” or “please forgive me” may never be uttered from the one who did the hurting.

He is Everything

I am frequently amazed at the insight of writers.    Like,  Wow, I wish I had said that.   This ability to give such clear insight can either encourage me to share my words with confidence or scare me into silence.      Being a voracious reader, I am very grateful for their words.   I am inspired, challenged and encouraged by words.    Words matter.     Especially words like:  God is Hope and Joy and Everything that I need.                                             …

Keep Calm, Fear “Less”

Many are the voices  proclaiming that the world has never been in a worse state of affairs.    Such fear and wringing of hands!    Seriously?     I remember the  70's... the Vietnam War,  oil shortages,  economic woes and have you seen the fashion from those days?    Yikes!    (One exception would have to be 70's music...none better!)   What about earlier centuries where war, disease and famine wiped out entire civilizations?      There have been empires and kingdoms that seemed unshakable,  only to be reduced to rubble.   Sometimes their demise came from forces outside their borders and at…

Panic. Parenting. Peace.

On a flight back from North Carolina this past July, I sat by a lovely young woman who, as it turns out, had been at the same conference as me.    As we discussed the conference and what we "do" back home, she told me she and her husband were writing a book about parenting.    As soon as she began describing how their book would encourage young parents on how to raise their children right, I thought to myself  "Girl, you have no idea what is about to hit you!"         Meaning...me.      Figuratively speaking, of course! …
