About

My Story

I was born and raised in Arkansas (Go Razorbacks!) as the first-born daughter of James & Mary Bass.  My brother, Leigh, made our little family complete.  We moved six times before I turned 16, and (until that last one) I always counted them as great adventures!  The last one worked out okay too.  Smile.

I cannot remember a time in my life when I did not know about Jesus and how much He loves me.  I am forever grateful for parents, grandparents, pastors, Sunday school teachers and others who taught me God’s Word.  I did nothing to earn His love and saving grace and I certainly do not deserve it…but I praise Him for it!

I met my amazing husband, Paul, at Ouachita Baptist University and we were married a year after graduation.  He is a Physician and I am a retired Educator.  I taught public school, elementary special education for four years and then homeschooled my children (Andrew, Stephen and Sara) for 18 years.  Andrew and his wife Susan live in Mississippi, Stephen and his wife Allie live in Arkansas, and Sara lives in Tennessee.  Being the wife of Paul and mom to these three is one of the BEST parts of my life.  My heart is full when my people are well.

My beautiful daughter gave me a test once that said I am an introvert.  I think that would surprise some folks.  It actually surprised me! Yet an ideal day for me would be reading a book, drinking really good coffee, eating dark chocolate and occasionally looking up to see a calming body of water outside my window.  I do love people though…especially little people.

My goal with this blog is to write about what God is teaching me, and let Him determine what I say.  My hope is that the words I prayerfully put out there…will encourage, inform, edify, strengthen and, above all, honor the One who gives me words.

This I know…He’s Got This.
